March brought practices for the Countryside Challenge (passing obstacles you might find on a rural hack, posting letters on your way, thanking helpers for opening gates etc) as well as some outdoor pole work in the paddock.
The highlight of the month was the introduction of the ‘Beans’ game, which turned out to be a big hit with many of our riders. To encourage movement of riders’ bodies, the instructors asked them to wiggle like jelly beans, move slowly and spread their arms as broad beans, swing their arms to simulate running like runner beans, and pose with an ‘ooh la la’ to impersonate French beans. Great fun and lots of laughter!
